Field of the Year: Moyer Sports Complex | Field 3

Moyer Sports Complex | Field 3 in Salem was the recipient of the 2025 VSFMA K-12 Schools Field of the Year Award. Jim Farmer, Complex Manager for the City of Salem, shared a few words about this win.

What are you most proud of with this win, and/or what do you think stands out most about your winning field?
We’re proud to be recognized by Virginia SFMA because of the high caliber members of the organization. For them to think we’ve done well is very special to us.
What are the biggest challenges you have faced with the winning field and how have you approached those challenges?
The biggest challenge for us is maintaining quality turf with an amount of play that is extremely high. Having over 400 events on that turf annually is challenging.
How has your career benefited from being a member of VSFMA?
Thanks for what you do and for the great opportunities this organization provides. Being a part of the organization provides networking and resources that are invaluable.
